Efforts to Change the Quality of EducationDuring his presentation, Deputy Perfecta drew attention to the most recent consumer survey of Dane, according to which 57% of the nation’s children read a book voluntarily, while 43% said they had been motivated by an obligation academic. With this background and taking into account the PISA test results in which Colombia has performed below the world average in reading skills, the representative of the education portfolio presented the National Reading and Writing, a bid to transform the quality of education in the country.

“Children do not learn to read and write at the appropriate age, may not, during their school development to overcome these conditions of inequality and condemn them to live in poverty,” said Perfecta emphasizing the importance of Colombia that children improve their reading and writing levels.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of reading and writing as a social development potentiated, and invited attendees to the workshops for Prosperity Agreement, representatives from the academic, social and business to be included in Bolivar their agendas country’s social commitment to improve the quality of education.

Finally, the representative of the education portfolio, outlined the National Reading Plan that forms part of the policy “Quality education, the path to prosperity” that is already in progress and has set a goal of four years to help improve the performance levels of students in preschool, primary and secondary by 25% to 6,900 educational institutions provide a seed collection for use by students, to train teachers to 35,000 in reading and writing, accompanied to 6,900 educational institutions with relevant strategies to encourage reading and writing and commit to 100% of secretaries of education to make specific commitments to the National Reading and Writing.
